DIY t-shirt fringe scarf!

It was pretty cold around here the last few days, and the kids were getting a little stir crazy, so we decided to do a little crafting! My kids loved making this fringe scarf, and it was so easy to do! Here's what we used:

(1) old t-shirt ( we used an adult size small per each child, but any size adult shirt will work) It's a great way to re-purpose those old shirts that have too many holes to wear anymore!

(1) pair of sharp scissors---fabric scissors work best but aren't necessary

First, cut your shirt horizontal under the arms.

Then, cut strips about an inch wide. But leave about 2-4 inches of room from the hemmed part of the shirt. That will be the part you drape for the scarf :) Also, remember, it doesn't have to be perfect!!

Lastly, here's where the kiddos get to help: have them pull each strip until it kind of shrinks up and gets that "fringe" look.

Loop it twice around their neck loosely, and voila! Cheap, easy and fun little fashion accessory!
